1 Million square foot warehouse and distribution facility. The original building was built in two phases: 1959 and 1961. The original trusses were showing signs of stress, including some trusses failing over the years, and the owner wanted to strengthen all of the remaining trusses. Saunders and the engineer of record worked together to help create a design that would strengthen the trusses and generate a cost savings based on the installation schematic. The scope included additional hardware and cable to strengthen the bottom cord of all the trusses. As needed, the vertical members were repaired and/or strengthened.
Additionally, the work needed to be coordinated with the tenant's operations, so performing the work needed to be done correctly and in a timely manner. Because of the scale of the project and the significance of the scope, the owner engaged a third party inspection company to oversee the quality of installation. All parties were pleased with the level of quality construction provided. Saunders completed the project on time and on budget.
