What does it mean for Californians if a big earthquake hit during the covid-19 shelter in place order?

It is a common theme across the globe. The coronavirus is changing our day-to-day lives. The impact of the pandemic affects different industries in different ways. Earthquake experts are considering the potential for the big one during the Covid-19 outbreak and shelter-in-place order. What does this mean for Californians or other earthquake-prone regions? Well, for starters preparation and response can’t stop.

“An earthquake is just as likely this week as it was three weeks ago,” Richard Allen, director of the Berkeley Seismological Laboratory, said. “The good news is that when we have an earthquake, one of the things we have to think about is that we will be stuck at home, and many of us are already doing that. In a sense, the bits that we need to do in an earthquake — they’re already there.”

Californians are already taking proper precautions by default as you would have to take during a disaster. However, the emergence of two disasters would certainly be unprecedented and overwhelming. Therefore, it is crucial to stay alert and prepared which applies to make sure your property and assets are safe and secure as well. Is your building prepared for an earthquake or do you need structural repairs/ seismic retrofit?
