Structural Repair Portfolio Truss Repairs

Truss Repairs

Trusses play a critical role in supporting roof loads and distributing forces across large spans. When even one component of a truss is damaged, it can compromise the structural stability of the entire system. On this project, we focused on reinforcing the bottom chord—the primary tension member—using high-tension steel cables. This method is similar to the reinforcement techniques we use for glulam beams (GLBs) and sub-purlins, and it allows for effective redistribution of tension forces along the span.

In addition to the bottom chord reinforcement, we replaced damaged vertical members to reestablish proper load transfer between the top and bottom chords. This ensured that the truss could perform as intended under both static and dynamic loads.

We also reinforced critical connection points along the truss to maintain even load distribution and prevent stress concentrations that could lead to future damage. These strategic repairs allowed us to extend the life of the existing truss system without requiring full replacement—minimizing cost and downtime for the client.

By combining targeted reinforcement with select component replacement, we restored structural integrity and delivered a practical, durable solution that supports long-term building performance.
